Library Yoga
Library Yoga is a community-centered nonprofit designed to
make yoga accessible, welcoming, and free (or very low-cost) for people of all backgrounds—especially those who might not
feel comfortable or able to attend traditional yoga or fitness studios. At its core, Library Yoga partners with public libraries to
transform familiar, trusted community spaces into calm, inclusive environments for wellness and movement.
Mission
Library Yoga’s mission is to remove barriers to yoga and
mindfulness by offering classes that are:
• Financially accessible (free or donation-based)
• Physically inclusive (adaptive and beginner-friendly)
• Emotionally welcoming (non-intimidating, community-
focused)
How It Works
• Library Partnerships: Classes are held in library meeting
rooms, outdoor reading gardens, or community spaces.
• Certified Instructors: Teachers are trained not only in
yoga, but also in trauma-informed and accessible practices.
• Drop-In Friendly: No memberships, no contracts—
participants can simply show up.
All Levels Welcome
Classes are designed for beginners,
seniors, and people with limited mobility.
Programs Offered:
• Gentle Yoga & Chair Yoga: Ideal for seniors or those
with mobility challenges
• Family Yoga: Encouraging parents and children to practice
together
• Mindfulness & Meditation Sessions: Supporting mental
health and stress relief
• Community Wellness Workshops: Topics like breathing
techniques, posture, and relaxation
